Ac Milan Manager Massimiliano Allegri has conceded that his side will be fighting for second place behind Barcelona in
their Champions’ League group. The Rossoneri play Celtic tomorrow in their first
European match of the campaign, and the Coach has conceded that it will be
between his side, the Scottish champions and Ajax for second.
“Barcelona are clearly the strongest team in the group,” he told
a Press conference. “We’ll be looking for more points that Celtic and Ajax.
“We’ll obviously try
to fight with Barcelona for first place, but it will not be easy. Champions
League matches are a lot different than League games.
“You have to try and
limit the opponents without granting them counter-attacks. We need to find our
own strength. If you defend better and attack better, then you’ll win.
“The whole team has
grown in terms of Europe and we must continue to do so. We struggled last time
out against Torino – conceding two goals on the break.
“The good thing from
that game was that we fought right until the end, but we have to start over
again now.
“We played a bad game,
but tomorrow will be a lot different. It is our first game against a very
physical side who will be difficult to deal with.
“But with the crowd
behind us, there’s no reason why we can’t do well.”
