Arsene Wenger
has heaped praises on hislads for an “outstanding game” and particularly the
“fantastic” Mesut Ozil after beating Napoli 2-0.
This was the 10th straight win in all competition for
the Gunners, but also their best performance of the season.
“I think it was the
most impressive, especially in the first half. We played with a good pace,
technically very direct and finished with great goals. Overall the first half
was outstanding,” Wenger told Sky Sports UK.
“The second half we
played with more maturity, less drive going forward, a bit more cautious, but
overall it was an outstanding game.
“Ozil’s first
half was absolutely amazing. Fantastic. Collective skill, individual skill,
finishing, everything you dream of seeing from the stands.
“The team played not
to make a mistake and were a bit more cautious after the break. Overall it’s
understandable.
“We were solid and
overall it was positive, because I wanted Mathieu Flaminito stop Marek Hamsik on
the counter-attack and he did that work very well.”
Arsenal are now top of
Group F with six points, followed by BorussiaDortmund and Napoli on
three.
“We could not have
started better. The next two will be deciders, so that’s why we want
to come back after an international break and have a great game like that
against Dortmund.”
