Nigeria
and Chelsea Midfield star John Obi Mikel Obi has backed the club to
recover from suffering their first defeat of the season to Everton at the
weekend, the Metro reports.Steven Naismith’s header was
enough to separate the two sides on Saturday and inflict defeat on Jose
Mourinho’s men for the first time this season, which was Mourinho’s first since
taking over for a second time. The west Londoners created a number
of chances but failed to put them away thanks to some questionable finishing
from new boys Samuel Eto’o and Andre Schurrle. However, Mikel has insisted that nobody at the club will panic at their first
defeat in four games, and believes that it won’t be long before they’re
back on top form.
“It is about how we bounce back. When you know what you’ve done
wrong it’s easy to bounce back. We need to go to get back training and find out
what we didn’t do,” he said.
Mourinho said that he felt the side could have won the game,
though the little mistakes made that prevented them from doing so will surely
be eradicated once the side get used to his training regime in the coming
weeks.
“We train movement, we train dynamics, we train attacking
organisation, we train finishing situations,” said the Portuguese boss.
“The players are good so sooner or later we will score. If they
don’t have the killer instinct they have to get it but I think they have it.
“Samuel has had it his entire career and the situations he had
made me happy as it looked like he had a good understanding with the team.”
