Massimiliano Allegri has promised a better Millan side by Christmas.
Speaking a 3- 3 draw against Bologna, Allegri insists Milan “will be in
a better position by Christmas” after fighting back for a 3-3 draw at Bologna.
The Rossoneri had
taken the lead, but were then trailing 3-1 before another late comeback at the Stadio Dall’Ara. It left them with
just five points from as many Serie A games.
“I am angry because
after the 3-3 we gave away the ball and risked conceding a fourth,” the Coach
told Sky Sport Italia.
“The team played well
and we created so many chances, but we also allowed Bologna too much at the
back. After the draw we should’ve finished the game with the ball at our feet,
not handing it to Alessandro Diamanti.
“We have got to
improve in defence, but also in attack, seeing as we only convert about 30 per
cent of our scoring opportunities. Alessandro Matri played for the team and I
hope he can break his duck on Saturday. If he continues like this, the goal
will come.
“We played very well
tonight, just as against Napoli when their goalkeeper was Man of the Match.”
This was the first
match in Mario Balotelli’s three-game ban for insulting the referee, a
suspension Milan opted not to appeal.
“He is 23 years old
and has to mature, as we set the example for children and cannot afford certain
behaviour. He is immensely talented, but that’s not enough to be a champion.”
Considering Milan’s
struggles, Allegri was asked if he could already give up on the hope of third
place this season.
“Before Christmas we
will be in another position. At the moment things aren’t going terribly well
and we dropped points along the way, but we have everything it takes to get
back on track.
“We have conceded too
many goals, on average two per game, so must improve our concentration levels.”
